Getting Started

NIN’s initial consultation and assessment process begins with a meeting. Our therapists get to know our clients and determine the client's needs and expectations of therapy. This includes explaining our process and possible solutions as well as answering any questions. The next step in the process is a QEEG (brain map), and an assessment of the recorded data. The assessment incorporates multiple computer-based applications that model and image the data, allowing us to study the brain.
These results help us determine balance, connectivity, power, and functionality of the brain. We deliver a well-rounded picture of the client’s brain and how its condition applies to the client's functioning. Factoring in all these elements leads us to the establishment of a custom training protocol for each client.
The application of these protocols is called Neurotherapy, delivered in several ways at NIN. We combine multiple modalities, including neurofeedback, neuromodulation, AVE training,  and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) training. When required, these sessions are complemented with a variety of talk therapy interventions.

QEEG: What to Expect

Quantitative Electro Encephalogram

What is a QEEG?

A QEEG (Quantitative electroencephalograph) is also called a brain map. Brain mapping is non-invasive (unlike a SPECT scan or PET scan) and painless. Much like a thermometer, which only records your temperature but does not affect your temperature, the brain map only records the electrical activity of the brain for analysis; it does not actually do anything to the brain itself.

The QEEG session will involve a cap placed on the head that has sensors on it which record the electrical activity of the brain.  The cap is connected to equipment that enables the recording. This session takes an hour to complete.

What happens after the QEEG?

A “Post QEEG Review” appointment is the next step after a QEEG. This assessment incorporates multiple computer-based applications that model and image the data from the brain map, allowing us to study the brain. These results help us determine balance, connectivity, power, and functionality of the brain.

At the Post Q Review, our therapist will deliver a well-rounded picture of the client’s brain and how its condition applies to the client's functioning.

Factoring in all these elements leads us to the establishment of a custom training protocol for our client. This is an hour-long session.

What happens in a Neurotherapy session?

The application of these protocols is called Neurotherapy, delivered in several ways at NIN. We combine multiple modalities, including neurofeedback, neuromodulation, AVE training, and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) training. When required, these sessions are complemented with a variety of talk therapy interventions.

Neurotherapy sessions consist of the application of electrodes directly to the scalp which deliver mild electric stimulation to the brain. Placement of the electrodes and leveling of the stimulation is carefully monitored to adhere to the customized protocol for each client. This is an hour-long session.
